Australian Light Horse. Prior to enlistment he had served 3 years in the Light Horse. His wife's address was 'Passchendaele', Brownlow Hill, Camden. Hector departed Sydney on the 'Star of Victoria' 20 October 1914. His widow Mrs Alice Small unveiled the Soldiers' Memorial in Macarthur Park Camden on 11 February 1922 Lance Corporal Hector SMALL contracted severe diarrhoea while on active service at Gallipoli. He died of enteric fever and haemorrhage at No.1 Aust. General Hospital Heliopolis, Egypt on 4 July 1915 age 23. |
